The 55-year-old Jewett City man was hit as he walked along River Road in Lisbon around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, Connecticut State Police said. Friends posted online he was walking home from his job at Walmart.

The Griswold High School alumni had recently started working at the superstore, and before that, he worked at Better Val-U for 28 years, according to his obituary. Regardless of where he worked, he enjoyed walking to his job and cheering on the Red Sox or San Fransisco 49ers.

Dupont leaves behind a son, daughter, and grandchild, his obituary said.

His family has not released details for a memorial service for Dupont.

William Stonier, of Ledyard, was arrested and charged with crashing his truck in Dupont, authorities said.

Stonier is charged with driving under the influence and illegal possession of a firearm while intoxicated, police said. He was being held on a $75,000 bond.

The crash is under investigation, and authorities ask anyone with information about it to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski at 860-848-6500 ext.5 or timothy.wengloski@ct.gov.
